A sea change is on in the wireless headphones of late, and Apple is rising to the occasion by upgrading their Airpods Headphones to meet the growing competition.
The new water-resistant AirPods (named as B288 in the house) is expected to be with a wireless chip W2 and will have a hand free ‘Hey Siri’ function. Since its introduction in 2016, Airpods enjoy 85% market share in wireless headphone segment in the US. Logically the Airpods will be from the Apple’s Homepod department. This wearable will be with wireless charger and is a prelude to AI integration in a few years.
It comes along with a battery case. Once the battery case is dead, plugging into the power source with the Lightning cable for 15 minutes is sufficient. It all sounds and work seamlessly. The strap is also available to avoid chances of losing the Airpods. The Airpods is going to a revenue earner for Apple much more than in the past.
Features of Airpods in a nutshell:
- The audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in the ears and pauses when taking them out.
- Adjusting the volume, changing the song, making a call, or even getting directions through Siri is possible.
- The ultralow-power W1/W2 chip manages battery life much better.
- Just 15 minutes of recharging gives you 3 hours of listening time.
However the high price tag of Apple Airpods not going to be music to all ears. Especially when H2O Audio comes out with ‘World’s First Custom is Premium Waterproof Earphone’ with noise cancelling features. Yes, the competition is high, and hence product innovation is going to be the major concern decision making of the customers.
