It looks like the smartphone manufacturers are running short of USPs. The cameras, face recognition ID, fingerprint sensor, retina and bezel do not create a ripple in the customers especially the impulse purchase market. Even the ‘press anywhere to initiate fingerprint’ recognition recently introduced by the Chinese company lost its sheen as USP.

Red, who made a dent with their camera in cinematography, is coming out with a holographic smartphone by the end of 2018.
AT&T and Verizon are the channel partners for the first smartphone from the video equipment company Red on Android platform. It can take customised 3 D images
Christened as RED Hydrogen One and advertised as the first holographic media machine that fits in your pocket. The expected price is plus $1,300 plus for Aluminium version and $1,595 for a Titanium model.
Incidentally, 2011’s HTC EVO 3D failed to take off even when 3D was supposed to be the next big thing. It didn’t catch on.
